Randy was born and raised in the Sault Ste. Marie, and he graduated from Bawating High School. He was employed with the Algoma Steel & City of SSM prior to going to university. He spent half his working life in Halifax where he received a BA from Saint Mary’s University/MPA in Government Organization & Structure at Dalhousie University, Halifax from 1969-1975.
During this career he gained a wealth of experience as a 35 Year Federal Public servant in Nova Scotia / Prince Edward Island / New Brunswick / Newfoundland / Ontario & Alberta. Randy conducted management audits in several federal departments with Audit Service Bureau across Canada. In late 80’s/early 90’s became Special Advisor to Deputy Minister Labour Market Development, in Ottawa and was responsible for/drafted agreements & policies for this directorate. A member of the National Labour Market Development Agreement Working Committee & negotiated labour market agreements for Alberta/NS/PEI. As Operations Manager for the G7 Summit 1994-1995, was responsible for and gained invaluable world-wide experience in international
relations while organizing & managing the Operations Centre for the Halifax G7 Summit which invited Russia thus becoming known or renamed G8. In 1998, joined FedNor-Industry Canada as Senior Advisor, to Director General & managed a large number of economic & business development projects/SME Conferences & InfoFairs/Innovation Summits in Northern Ontario & Citizen Engagement Forum in the Sault.
In 2005 became Director of International Relations & Global Logistics with SSMEDC’s Business SSM, broadened local/national/international experience. He also started in 2005, a private consulting firm that specializes in economic development and project management. Very active over a 10-year period as a member with the SSM Chamber of Commerce & completed a six-year term as an Executive Board Director. Served as 2nd Vice-President on the Government Relations, Awards, Membership & Retention, Immigration Strategy, and the Doctors Recruitment Retention Committees. Active member of the Canadian Italian Business Professional Association.
During his extensive experience with government, private sector liaison, branding & identity, he began to brand SSM-Algoma as Alternative Capital of North America. Throughout this career, he developed negotiating,
communications skills and developed mergers & acquisition networking opportunities for clients, locally, nationally & globally and gained very good experience and exposure in salary arbitration & was exposed to international law. When joining FedNor-Industry Canada as Senior Advisor, to Director General in 1998 he managed a large number of economic & business development projects/SME Conferences & InfoFairs/Innovation Summits in Northern Ontario & Citizen Engagement Forum in the Sault.
More recently, as a part-time Northern Ontario Angel, (NOA) Consultant, NOA Consultants offer entrepreneurs a confidential/trusted networking connections into the investment marketplace by bringing entrepreneurs and investors together to explore new business opportunities. Our part-time role includes guiding our local/international investors and our community projects through the investment process, to ensure that our community projects are investment-ready before you ever meet a potential investor.
